This is a very pretty and lightweight sweater material that made adorable stockings for Big Stella.  These are brown with grayish white flecks within the knit resulting in a brown that can lean toward gray also.  It would be a very nice stocking for many of your Depression Era outfits.  These also look cute scrunched down toward the knee.
